So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, comformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. Looking back on the experience, I’d say it was positive. It’s a strange place we’ve found ourselves, with technology. I follow you on Tumblr, and see everything you express, and I agree with some of the things you express, here and the tidbits I hear in person; but we haven’t spoken much, and when we have it’s brief. It’s strange getting to know people in different contexts.

The Uneasy Feminine

Lately I’ve been trying to branch out in regards to being more comfortable with my sexuality, being comfortable with my body, and just being comfortable and open with the idea that there’s nothing wrong with being a sexual person. No one condemns flowers for being vibrant and attention getting, and all of that display is for the purpose of attracting insects (or anything) for pollination; for procreation. Even if flowers didn’t want to pollinate though, would people feel the need to condemn them for only using their beauty for self indulgence, as opposed to procreation? I hope not, because then the world wouldn’t be nearly as beautiful.

Growing up a roman catholic, I was beyond sheltered and brought up with a golden conservative path laid out for me. Cody finds it astonishing that I didn’t lose my virginity until I was 18. My only conditions for losing my virginity were that I wanted to be in love, and i wanted to be over 18, simply for the purpose of being able to be a role model for my cousins, and possibly my future children.

Looking back at it now, my “self righteous” actions were naive, and who really gives a fuck when I did what I did, because other people are going to do what they want to do, when they want to do it, regardless of what I’ve done.

I know I’m preaching to the choir on Tumblr, but I still find it ridiculous that seeing this doesn’t bat a single eyelash (or excessive fine from the FCC):

people start to lose their fucking minds. It needs to be said that I find nothing wrong with violence on television or movies, and I feel like it has its place. In fact, the scene from Breaking Bad that I posted above is one of my favorite scenes from the first half of Season Five Substituting one for the other doesn’t negate the problem by any stretch of the imagination. Replacing murder and rape with tits and consensual sex would not fix the problem, but it might put us on the right path. .

I just find it strange that the general public of the United States can watch a sex scene until it becomes too apparent that the girl is enjoying it. When it becomes a little too obvious that the woman is enjoying herself, the line between art and pornography blur (to a ridiculous level), and we’re left with watered down products that don’t click the way a writer or director initially intended it to.

Blame rape culture, blame religion, blame conservative politics (which seem to embrace both) — the truth is probably a combination of all those things.

Why do we have to be ashamed of our sexuality? Why do we have to collectively pretend that nobody watches pornography or masturbates? Why is owning a handgun a source of pride but owning a dildo or fleshlight is a source of shame? Surely there’s something to be said about the absurdity of this notion. We’re not all violent, but most of us are sexual. Why do we have to be ashamed of something we’re genetically geared to do?

It’s bullshit.
